Sowjanya KALLAKURI

Sowjanya is a developmental geneticist by profession. She graduated from India with a Bachelors in
Genetics and a Masters in Molecular and Human Genetics. She then went on to receive her PhD
from the German Cancer Research Centre, Heidelberg in Developmental Genetics. She is currently a
research fellow at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine where she is studying the importance of
hedgehog signalling in maintaining vessel integrity in Zebrafish. During her doctoral, postdoctoral
and undergrad studies she was actively involved in organising several scientific events and retreats.
Additionally, she has a flair for managing cultural events too. Through BCS, she wishes to continue
her passion for Scientific outreach and education and contribute positively to biotech
entrepreneurships. When not working, Sowjanya loves to travel, try out new cuisines and Zumba.
