A scientist by training and an entrepreneur at heart, Som aspires to bring about a positive change within the global bio-economy. He has served as the Chairperson of BioBiz – a biomedical conference where he strived to offer an interactive platform for students and industry professionals to explore career opportunities and business insights. Som graduated from Indian Institute of Technology with a Masters in Biotechnology and obtained a PhD in Biological Sciences from the National University of Singapore. He is currently a research fellow in Mechanobiology Institute and his work seeks to understand the effects of stress on cells, to uncover new therapeutic pathways for tackling the disease. He has been a part of a number of startups and has been selected as a Leader of Tomorrow by Global Biotech Revolution based in University of Cambridge.In his free time, Som enjoys motor sports and long drives .

Biotech Connection Singapore (BCS) is part of an international network of non-profit organizations, that aims to promote the transfer of ideas from theory to real world applications by providing a platform for fostering interaction between academia, industry and businesses.
