Shainan HORA


Shainan received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Biochemistry from University of Delhi, India, following which she came to Singapore to pursue a Ph.D. in Cancer Biology from National University of Singapore. Her work at NUS focuses on understanding the role of a tumor suppressor gene in hepatitis B virus induced Hepatocellular carcinoma, with an aim of developing better therapeutic strategies against liver cancer. Shainan is passionate about the healthcare space in Singapore and wants to utilize her acquired skills and expertise to contribute back to the R&D sector as a research scientist, medical writer or medical affairs personnel. Through BCS, she wants to create awareness about the bio-pharmaceutical industry space in Singapore, encourage researchers to foster industry collaborations as well as enable smooth transition from academics to industry. In her leisure time, Shainan enjoys badminton, swimming, hiking and reading novels.

Biotech Connection Singapore (BCS) is part of an international network of non-profit organizations, that aims to promote the transfer of ideas from theory to real world applications by providing a platform for fostering interaction between academia, industry and businesses.
