To share Biotech Connection Singapore (BCS)’s key plans for the coming year as well as celebrate its past achievements, BCS hosted “Biotech 2020: BCS Mixer” on March 16th at AStartCentral, Block 79 @ Ayer Rajah. The event was generously sponsored by Elite Advanced Materials (EAM) and AStartCentral. Over 50 professionals from local biotech ecosystems attended the networking session, resulting in fruitful connections.
BCS President Dr. He Cairan kickstarted the event by introducing the new Executive Committee, SAB and Mentors, and unveiled a roadmap of upcoming BCS initiatives. These initiatives will strengthen the current local connections BCS has forged and facilitate the formation of new partnerships to promote biotech entrepreneurship in Singapore.
Dr He highlighted that in 2016, BCS will achieve these initiatives through their three core principles for engaging the community:
(i) Education:
BCS will launch a series of events to engage entrepreneurs and investors regarding their perspectives on investments in the healthcare and biotech sector.
(ii) Communication:
BCS will publish monthly E-magazines to showcase how successful spin-offs manage their funding mechanism, as well as tips for successful business pitches to investors.
(iii) Consulting:
BCS offers cost-effective consulting services to local entrepreneurs/SMEs on technology assessment, competitive analysis and market entry strategy. Each project employs a select team of consultants with advanced degrees (Ph.D. or MBA) from top-tier universities to cater to specific project needs, leveraging on strong BCS connections and resources in the local biotech ecosystem. While in its early days, BCS consulting services have consistently delivered productive and high quality results and received strong endorsement from their clients.
Following Dr. He’s speech, Dr. Tay Feng Huai, co-founder of EAM, presented his company to the audience. He concluded with a favourable endorsement of BCS Consulting, based on his recent experience.
After the speeches, attendees mingled while enjoying a gastronomic spread courtesy of EAM and AStartCentral. The networking session was filled with lively exchange among the attendees, and the guests enjoyed stimulating discussions about opportunities for future collaborations and trends in the local industry.
