Obama bans microbeads in cosmetic products to reduce plastic pollution

US President Barack Obama has officially banned the use of microbeads in personal cosmetic products that pollute lakes, rivers and oceans. The “Microbead-Free Waters Act of 2015′ law was approved by the House of Representatives on December 28th 2015. It prohibits the “manufacture and introduction into interstate commerce of rinse-off cosmetics containing intentionally-added plastic microbeads.” In October of 2015, California had followed six other states in banning the microbeads.
