Fewer moles may mean more aggressive melanoma, says study

It is already known that people with a high number of moles are at a greater risk of developing melanoma or skin cancer, but a new study has indicated that fewer moles also warrant medical attention since they can develop into a more aggressive form of the disease. At the recent American Academy of Dermatology’s 2015 Summer Academy Meeting in New York, expert dermatologist Dr. Caroline Kim, the author on this research explained her findings. Kim is a board-certified dermatologist, director, pigmented lesion clinic, and associate director, cutaneous oncology program, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Centre Department of Dermatology, Harvard Medical School, Boston.
