Review: Defective Telomeres linked to cancer & many other diseases

The ends of linear chromosomes are protected by structures known as ‘Telomeres’ that protect the ends of DNA in a chromosome and have attracted serious scientific study since the early 20th century. With the current developments in telomere research, it has been confirmed that telomeres play a role in ageing and numerous diseases like aplastic anaemia and many types of cancer. Since they are linked to many illnesses, investigating more about these telomeres could lead to improved diagnostic systems and novel therapies.
